地藏菩萨因其安忍不动，犹如大地，静虑深密，犹如秘藏，所以得名。地藏王菩萨是佛教中一位愿力深厚的菩萨，佛典载，地藏菩萨在过去世中，曾几度救出地狱受苦的母亲，并在久远劫来不断发愿要救度一切罪苦众生，尤其是地狱众生，这位菩萨以大孝和大愿的德业被广为弘传，也深受广大善信的供奉和信仰。
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva obtained his name for he is calm, patient and unmoved as the earth, ruminative in profound and esoteric thought as mystery treasure. He is a bodhisattva making solemn vows. According to Buddhist scriptures, in the past lives, he saved his mother who had been suffering in the hell for several times and he kept on making a wish to save all the beings who had committed wrongs and suffered from corresponding retributions since eons ago. Especially who have been struggling in the hell are those he wished to save. His filial piety and solemn vows and virtuous endeavors have been well-known and he is therefore worshiped by numerous kind followers.

    仁炟长老曾开示：“地藏王菩萨非常值得我们每一个人学习效仿，值得我们恭敬顶礼。我们大家要感恩地藏王菩萨，学习地藏王菩萨：安忍如大地，胸怀宽四海，利及社会，救度众生。”
Ven. Master Renda has said: It's very worthwhile learning from and showing our respect to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. We need to thank and learn from Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to be enduring and steady like the earth and broad-minded like the ocean, and bring benefit to the society and save sentient beings universally.
